• Hi,

Mine whole business workflow depends on upselling. Picu does that good, but not perfect.
From my perspective there is one (for me major) flaw. Reopening collections for upsell.

When client finalize his order he is cut off from collection, no second thoughts, no additional pictures to order in second batch.

I could reopen collection, you say? I could, but its flawed. First as all I have to know, that i should do that – client has to inform me. Second of all, most importantly, when i reopen collection all pictures allready ordered (and purchased) are open to uncheck again. Its seriuos problem concenring relation with client. Additional explanation, that he cant resign of allready purchased photos and so on. Not good.

    Best case sceanrio?
    1. During collection creation additional checkmark if photographer wants to leave collection open and live after finalize.
    2. Pictures once finalized are unclickable ever again, other frame color, no buttons. No matter how many times collection was reopened.
Eventually photographer as admin could uncheck specified photos just in case, but not client after finalized order.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Hi Maciej!

First of all: Thank you for your feedback – it is much appreciated.

picu was first and foremost conceived as a proofing solution. You as a photographer send a collection of images to the client, who then makes a selection. The main reason, why we are so adamant about having a final, irrevocable decision is, that you the photographer, can rely on that selection and base the next steps in your workflow on it.

That being said, like you, many of our users have found more use cases for picu, than just proofing – and that is great! (One such example is our Download module, that photographers used to deliver final images. As a response to that need, we recently released the “Delivery” module, that is made for that exact purpose.)

We have gathered many more use cases and are working on a solution that will fit more workflows beyond simple, one-step proofing. This will also include an e-commerce integration and will most likely better meet your requirements.

We have added your suggestions to our list. Thanks again for your feedback!

    Cheers
    Florian

    Hi Florian,

    Thx for comprehensive response.

First of all i can imagine, that requests from community immediatelly surpassed design assumptions. picu is well thought and made – thats why.

Im all in for definitive decision made by client. In my workflow his decision is corelated with invoice i do just after his order, so it has to be irrevocable as You designed picu – thats great.

In contradiction to this design i was surprised, that after reopening collection order can by changed – not only addad more, but unclicked too.

I love to sell more photos in second or even third batch. Thats free money for me.
But now im really hesitant to reopen, because client can do damage to previeus order.

Maybe just locking ordered photos after reopen is easy fix? Previously reguested checkmark leave for other, bigger occasion?

    Cheers

    Hey Maciej,

For now one possibility would be to clone the collection, using just the photos that are not selected. That way the client can choose only from those images he/her has not selected before.

Maybe you can elaborate a bit more on how exactly you go about selling a second (or third) batch of photos. (If you want we can move this conversation to email.)

    Cheers
    Florian
