# Feature request: Recognize links by class

 * I am using a plugin which does email encoding, which means that there is no more‘
   mailto’ link but a javascript instead. As this is not coded using the ‘<script
   >’ tag, your suggested option ‘Ignore script’ does not work. However, the plugin
   uses a distinctive class name. So maybe an option like ‘Recognize links by class’
   could be helpful?
    If you need more details on this problem, don’t hesitate to
   contact me.

 * [@bsoftde](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bsoftde/) We do have that feature
   already. If You go to exception tabs we have the option “ignore links by class”.
 * With this, you can work those links later at the “excluded links” tab.
 * If you have a minute, and haven’t done so, please leave a review. It’s what keeps
   support going. Thank you 🙏[https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wp-external-links/reviews/#new-post](https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wp-external-links/reviews/#new-post)

 * It does not work as described.
    Unencrypted mail link: data-wpel-link is set
   to “internal” Encrypted mail link: data-wpel-link is set to “ignore” There is
   no difference if the class is mentioned on the exception tab or not. If I add‘
   data-wpel-link=”external”‘ manually to the mail link it works as long as the
   link is not encrypted. As soon as encryption is active, the manual entry is automatically
   changed to “ignore” again. How can that be?

 * [@bsoftde](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bsoftde/) if Encrypted mail link:
   data-wpel-link is set to “ignore” so it’s working with the options within the“
   Exception tabs”. Now You should have “excluded links” tab where you can put the
   same configuration as external.
 * Anyway, without the website and looking carefully at what is happening, and base
   myself only on what You describe is not easy to give proper support.

 * I appreciate your quick replies very much. Unfortunately I still can’t get the
   plugin to work the way I would like it to. Anyway, I found a workaround, as the
   plugin that does the email encoding lets me add a class to every mail link. So
   I simply ignore email links in your plugin, and generate a special email icon
   via CSS.
    Maybe this could also be an enhancement for your plugin, treating mail
   links in a separate way, and providing special icons. Thanks for your efforts.

 * [@bsoftde](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bsoftde/) seems a great feature.
   Also, can You tell us how that “encrypted” link looks like? Maybe we can also
   in the future to add something to that.

 * Here comes the link:
 * `<a href="javascript:;" data-enc-email="unaab[at]obygr.qr?fhowrpg=Jrofvgr%20|%
   20Oyügratnyrevr" class="bo_mail" data-wpel-link="ignore">"></a>`
 * The ‘class’ entry is voluntarily defined by the WordPress admin (not always present!),‘
   data-enc-email’ contains the encrypted email address, subject asf.
    Hope that
   helps.
