Support » Plugin: MediaPress » Feature Request: Open Images From Their URLs

  • Hi,
I am using this service for many months now. It works really well, especially with the latest updates.

I have 2 things to report:

    —————

1 – Feature Request: Open image using their URLs and show them in the BuddyPress stream.

I use on my website images like this: https://www.tradingview.com/x/PakjZCXT/

They are generated by an external service.

Download the images and upload them to my website has become a frustration for me and for the members.

Kindly can introduce also the feature to use URLs.

    ————-

2 – The Admin Interface for a gallery needs a Pagination.

The Wall Gallery cab become very big. Then, users have no way to manage their images. I have wall galleries in the archive with other 2000 images.

The interface needs a pagination to shows them faster and in a usable way.
    ————-

Thanks for your time and support.

    kind regards

    G.Aloe

    Hi G.Aloe,
Thank you for using it. Your earlier feedback has helped us improve it and I sincerely appreciate it.

    1. We are working on it and it is most probably coming by next week. My goal is to have it before the end of next week unless something unexpected happens.

    2. Sure, I will have it in next 1-2 updates. I believe, It is related to single gallery edit page in admin.

    Thank you

    Hi,
    I have just released 1.4.0

It allows you to use the media link directly. You can configure the plugin to download the media locally or link to the remote side.

For 2nd request, I will have it in next release.

    Thank you
    Brajesh

    Hi Brajesh,
it works very well with URLs that have clear images with type extension.

But I have found something that is not working properly for now.

    This URL is an image:

    https://www.tradingview.com/x/z8LUD3U3/

If I want to save it on my computer the browser save this:

    z8LUD3U3.png

Unfortunately, mediapress is not able to take the image from that URL.

I tried also making in this way:

    https://www.tradingview.com/x/z8LUD3U3.png

But, I get an infinite waiting.

    > Do you think that this could be managed in future?

my private members need just to show images provided by trading view with this type or URLs:

    https://www.tradingview.com/x/z8LUD3U3/

    No other images.

    Hi G.Aloe
    Thank you for checking.
At the moment, MediaPress supports either oembed or direct url with clear extension.

I do see your use case and i can certainly add it. Instead of detecting based on the extension, we can peek into the header and do it. Please allow me a week(need to work on a few other things) and I will have it. It will be helpful in many other use cases too.

    Thank you
    Brajesh
