    I have installed your great plugin and found following problems:

    • Allow “More info” button and URL to be empty and don’t render it in this case — not every one needs an extra page for that kind of stuff. People are tired being forced to read cookie-crap and so does developers.
    • Text put as “Notification text” is being encoded and thus you can’t use HTML tags, add extra styling or links. This is wrong.
    • “More info” button should use / allow absolute URLs instead of just permalinks — this would allow people to use external resources (i.e. one privacy politics page for entire network of blogs).

    At first, I thought, that your plugin is great and I’m going to use it on my sites. But, founding that all these above — obvious at least to me — things are not implemented, forced me to resign. Really pity.

  • I agree with above.

    Hi @trejder. I’m not sure about your first point. If you don’t provide a “More Info” link, then I don’t think this complies with the legislation… No one is forced to click the “More Info” link, as you claim, but it needs to be there in case the visitor wants access to the info… I’m not sure about this, but this is how I’ve interpreted the legislation… Also, it doesn’t matter if you as a developer are tired of creating Cookie Policy pages — that really is beside the point when visitor privacy is at issue 😉

    Hi Julie,

    I don’t know about legislation, but I do seen a lot of cookie consents, which were minified to just a statement. Something like “This site is using cookies. If you continue to use it, you agree to this fact. You can change your cookie settings in your browser settings”. And that’s all. No “More info” button, no nothing.

    I based my feature request on this assumption.

    Cheers,
    Trejder

    Hi Trejder,

    Yes, that’s true. I’ve seen sites like that, too…

    Well, I’m assuming you found another plugin by now. May I ask what you’re using? Thanks!

    Hi Julie,

    actually — no. I like this plugin quite well, so I decided to use it and incorporate some kind of “More info” page to my blog. I did not search for anything else.

    Cheers!
    T.

    Lol! Yeah, I think this plugin works very well, too 🙂 Take care!

    Thanks for all the comments. At the moment we don’t have plans to do any further development work on this plugin but who knows in the future.

    If you want to hide the ‘More Info’ link you can add some CSS either to your theme or via a CSS editor plugin:

    #catapult-cookie-bar a {
      display: none;
    }

    I think that should do it.

    Clean and easy solution, thank! 🙂
