Feature Request – Max or Exact Size Options

    Great plugin, however it would be great if there was a way to restrict images to an exact size so that users couldnt still screw things up by uploading images with a bad aspect ratio. I try to make things as idiot proof as possible. Cheers!

    Hi Pierre,

    Thanks for the feedback. I’ve had other requests for some sort of exact size or aspect ratio setting in the plugin. I’ve been reluctant to add this in as it maybe feels a bit too restrictive, and as developers we can use the add_image_size() function in our themes to crop images to the size we need.

    That said, if enough people think this would be a useful addition to the plugin, I’m happy to take a look at it.

    Working with business clients, we have a saying…

    Clients are F@#$ing stupid. If there is a way for them to screw something up, they will.
    As such we try to make that as hard for them to do as we possibly can.

    I do use thumbnail sizes in all of my sites using add_image_size. However having an exact size option would allow us to ensure the correct aspect ratio is used on upload. Because inevitably the client will upload something with ridiculous dimensions, and then complain when it gets cropped. This option removes ALL ambiguity.
