    More and more themes in the directory have plugin dependencies (required or recommended) but you don’t learn that until after you activate the theme.

    I’d like to see dependencies clearly listed on each theme page, as well as having a feature filter to be able to weed out themes with dependencies.

    I love that idea of somehow displaying that. I do.

    I will kind of chime in on this part:

    Emphasis mine. As I’ve reviewed many themes over the years, themes submitted to the repo can only recommend plugins so if they are requiring, it means we as reviewers are not doing our part. To me. Themes should just work and not rely on plugins in order for them to work.

    If you do want this to really considered I suggest making a trac ticket to both core as well as meta. I say this because another thing comes to mind and that is the usage of a readme file.
