Feature Request: Ignore / Dismiss Updates

The ability to ignore or dismiss updates would be awesome. As a developer I am regularly in the core code for themes and plugins. It is therefore quite common that when I am notified an update for these are available I do not want to continue, especially when I have bent the component to work the way I require.

When a non-technical user (ie. someone I’ve built a site for) logs in to WordPress the constant messages about updating can be daunting and may even result in them clicking the ‘Update Automatically’ links themselves which will overwrite the changes made.

I appreciate that updates are in place for a reason to increase security and functionality but there are scenarios when it would be nice to hide these once in a while.
