    Hi,
I am trying to use the summary but the limit of characters is too low for my needs.
Is there any reason for that?
Is it possible to just do not limit the summary to any characters?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The reason for setting a limit was because it’s a summary.. that’s it.

But I will increase it in next update, no problem.
Meanwhile you can increase it yourself in file vsel, look for: maxlength="250"

    🙂
I will explain my use case, so you can understand.
I am using your fantastic plugin to create events, but I want to use the page for the event as the main page.
So I want to use the summary as the intro page, but with html and links to other parts of the website (location, terms, privacy, etc).
So, my count is 1400 characters for doing that.

    And it looks like this:
    http://share.angelfplaza.com/29ce22cd43b8

Because I need the summary and the content page, I am using a post for the full content and your event content as the summary, and not using your summary at all.

So it makes sense (for me 😛 ) not to limit the summary at all to allow it to use it to do a proper introduction (or at least 2500 characters or something like that).
Then I can just keep the events content all on your plugin, and not using standard posts for it.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Understood. But instead of using a post you can easily tweak the max length.. my plugin isn’t updated very frequently and you will not loose the (longer) summary after an update. You only have to tweak the max length again. But I might fully remove it.

    Guido

I am not doing this website for me, so I prefer to give them the plugin as it is, for the future…

If you remove it, that would be fantastic. 🙂

Thank you for listening and considering it!

    Hi @darkpollo

I’ve decided not to remove the maxlength attribute but will increase the value a lot, for example 1500 characters for the summary/excerpt. Do want to have a limit for inputs. Will update plugin within a few days.

I notice you’re Spanish? I really would like to have my plugin fully translated into Spanish. The same applies to another plugin of mine. Do you want to become a so caled translation editor, so you can approve Spanish strings of my plugin? On a voluntary base of course.

    Hi,

Have updated plugin so I’m marking this thread resolved.

    Guido

    Thank you!

By the way, I would love to help you to translate the plugin into Spanish. I am a little busy right now, but after easter I should have some time to do this.

let me know how can I help.

    Great!

I have added a request here to make you translation editor. Will keep you informed. Meanwhile you can already translate, but the translated strings still need approval from a translation editor. So if your request is approved, you can approve strings as well.

    Guido

    Hi Guido,

No need for that at all. I know the main editors in Spain so I can tell them when something is ready to be approved and they will do that.

I will try to find sometime to do some translations for you!

    Thanks!

Oh, have already made a request. Sorry. Should I ask them to ignore the post?

    Guido

    Whatever you prefer.
    No worries. 🙂

    Hi,

FYI: after some more discussion I have decided to remove all max character length of inputs again, in next update.

    Guido

    That is fantastic.

    Thanks!
