  • When a duplicate pretty link is created (e.g. a page and a post with the same url) would it be possible for WordPress to flag this up with some kind of alert?

  • Hello Alison,

Users can suggest features by using WordPress Trac, which is a bug tracking, development, and ticketing software. All WordPress development progress is tracked on track.

If you wish, you can add a ticket or else even I can raise a ticket and will keep you updated in case I hear back.

    Thank you!

A page and post cannot have the same url. If you have a post with the slug “mypost”, trying to creating a page with the same slug will result in “mypost-2”. Slugs must be unique across post types.

You can have the same url for a page and a post – it happened on a site I inherited and caused a lot of problems! – though not across the same post type.
