Great plugin guys!

I was using another plugin before called Auto Upload Image: https://wordpress.org/plugins/auto-upload-images/ but I switched to yours because of the ability to set the featured image.

One request: is it possible to add an option to customise the file name in the same way Auto Upload Image does? In that plugin you can use placeholders like %filename%, %date% and your own text to customise the saved file name to whatever you’d like.

It keeps the media library much more organised (for example, if posting instagram photos via IFTTT you can save all the uploaded images instagram_20150601.jpg etc.

Copy that, custom filename is a good idea. please waiting for update.

Hi Michael,

That’s great to hear! I look forward to the update. Here are some ideas for placeholders that would be great:

%filename% – original filename
%date% – full date
%year% – YYYY
%month% – MM
%day% – DD
%time% – HHMMSS
%timestamp% – unix time(); string. Very useful as a unique identifier string to avoid duplication

Using these placeholders, I could for example set the files to save as:

photoblog_%year%-%month%-%day%_%timestamp%.jpg

Hi Michael. One more idea- you might like to consider using wp_unique_filename (http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_unique_filename) to prevent duplicate file name problems.

I using wp core api to upload file, it would automatically call wp_unique_filename.
