# Feature Request: Block Editor Dark Mode

 * Seriously it is strenuous staring at a 24 inch lightbulb whenever I need to write
   a new post. I’ve tried dark reader and other chrome extensions and they do nothing,
   I’ve also tried to get the block editor to match my theme, but no dice.
 * Is there anyone else out there who has gotten the background of the block editor
   for posts to be black or dark? I don’t care if my actual post on the site will
   look like that or not, I just don’t wanna stare at bright white lights while 
   I’m trying to write a new post.
   Is there really no way to change the background
   within the editor?

 * That’s a great idea 🙂 Right now, this is possible using plugins, for example:
   [https://wordpress.org/plugins/darkify/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/darkify/)–
   you can also customize this via your theme, if the theme supports it.
 * The Gutenberg team has already discussed ideas for implementing this, as seen
   here: [https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/48249](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/48249)–
   however, it hasn’t been implemented yet, so you can’t use it natively without
   a plugin. Feel free to contact the Gutenberg team to lend your support to this
