Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » Feature request – add links to images in Gallery block

  • On multiple sites, we frequently need to create pages that have a section of logos from partners or sponsors (of an event or project), where each logo has a link out to the organization. A recent example can be seen at (scroll down to see logos): https://www.g7openletter.org/

Because the list of logos is frequently changing (for example, as more organizations sign on to the petition/letter), it would be ideal to use the Gallery block. It would allow us to easily rearrange the logos as new ones are added or deleted. We could change the number of columns, etc.

However, there does not seem to be any way we could figure out to add a custom link to the images that appear in the Gallery. (If there is, please let me know!) We can add a link to another version of the image, but not to an external URL. It would be great if when you clicked on an image you had the option to add a custom URL, just as you can for inserting a standalone image.

Thank you for considering this request.

P.S. This support topic seems to be making a similar request: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-create-a-table-of-linked-images/
