    Hello Robin W,

    I have a bbpress forum where I would like where we are in a forum each user can only see his topic.
    I am using bbpress like a customer support and when a user post a topic in “private” mode, I would like he’s the only one user he can see the topic with another group like moderator or other (defined in Bbpress Private Group).

    Could you tell me if it’s possible to do this with your plugin?

    Best Regards,

    ok, I’ve just released version 3.5.1

    if you activate topic permissions (see tab of that name), then you’ll see for each forum you can set a group to ‘Create/Edit/view OWN Topics, create/edit Replies to those topics and view any Replies to those topics’

    So you should be able to set up a forum called say ‘Support’ and then set this to have say Group 2 which has those topic permissions

    Users of group 2 will then only see there own topics in that forum.

    Then set another group say 3 who are going to respond to the help desk to have full access to that forum, and they can create and respond to that forum, or set them as create replies only and they can only respond to queries

    Let me know if this satisfies your requirements.

    Hi Robin,

    Thank you for your amazing feature you have developped !!!!!!

    I am configuring a forum to test the new feature, I have 3 groups (Private Groups) affected like this :

    – Administrators => Group1 called “Consultant”
    – Editor => No-group
    – Author => No-group
    – Contributor => Group1 called “Consultant”
    – Subscriber => Group3 called “Visitor”
    – Customer => Group2 called “Customer”
    – Shop Manager => No-group

    On my forum, I checked boxes Group1, Group2 and Group3.
    And I defined groups autorization like this :
    Group1 : Create/Edit Replies (and view all topics/replies)
    Group2 : Create/Edit/view OWN Topics, create/edit Replies to those topics and view any Replies to those topics
    Group3 : only View Topics/Replies

    So, If i understand well the feature :
    – Group1 can only Create & Edit some replies.
    – Group2 can only Create/Edit/view topics, replies on own topics.
    – Group3 can only view topics & replies

    Otherwise, in my system I would like visitors (unregistered users) could only see topics and replies. How can I do that?

    Thank you very much for your time and your helpness

    Best Regards,

    hmm…. not a scenario I’d thought of 🙂

    yes all the above would work apart from unregistered users.

    The whole plugin is designed around not letting unregistered people have access, and at the moment I cannot see how I could easily amend it to do that part.

    If something occurs to me – I’ll come back

    Of course you could have two forums, 1 public and visible by all (don’t set any groups for that forum), and another private for support calls only visible to group 1 and group 2.
