# Feature photograph

 * When I use the feature photograph sometimes, but not always, it does not use 
   that photo. But rather it chooses one from the post. I’m using gallery feature.
   If I have only one photo it generally uses that photo without having to place
   a photo in the feature photo…except it doesn’t always. Sometimes it won’t chose
   or use a feature at all to the main page, and I have to switch to standard post
   to get any photo to show on the main page. Very inconsistent and very confusing.

 * Hi there, featured images need to be a minimum of 588 pixels wide to be pulled
   in – could that be the issue, are some of your images too small?
 * If you wouldn’t mind providing links to a couple of specific posts where you 
   see the featured image not working as you’d expect, it would be super helpful.
   If you could also link to the images in your media library that you’re expecting
   to be used in the post – but aren’t – I’ll be glad to take a look. Thanks!

 * That doesn’t appear to be the problem. For example this post [http://www.thecatholicmuse.com/2013/10/28/photo-of-the-day-2/](http://www.thecatholicmuse.com/2013/10/28/photo-of-the-day-2/)
   the image is 2008×3011
    And it isn’t working properly. I had to post it as a 
   standard post instead of a gallery post, otherwise it posted with no image on
   the home post. But if you clicked on the link to the post then the image was 
   there. I like using gallery because it collapses the post and forces the reader
   to click to continue reading. I would send you the link to the photo but when
   I go to grab it it says it can’t find it.
 * The current post is a gallery post, but the set feature is not appearing. Instead

 * Hi Marylea,
 * Can you check to make sure that all of the images that should be displaying are
   actually attached to your post? That means they must have been uploaded to that
   particular post (Edit > Post > Add Media), and not directly to the media library
   or to another post.
 * I have a feeling that is the problem, but if not, let me know and I’ll look further.
