Favicon.ico working?

Hello,
I’m trying to see if my favicon.ico is working. It seems to be working in one web browser and not in others. To be honest I don’t know if I did this right.

Can anyone tell me exactly how to put the icon in my root directory? I don’t know what this is or how to do it.

If you see I have a favicon.ico then just tell me and I wont mess with it!
