  • I think you may need to put it in somewhere in between the <head> and </head> tags. Your source code shows it well below the </head> tag and into the body. Maybe someone can confirm that.

    This is where you have it now;

    <div id="header">
    <div id="navbar">
    <div class="menu">
    <li class="current_page_item"><a href="">Home</a></li>
    <h1><a class="mainlink" href="">Tech Support Team</a></h1>
    <div id="description"></div>
    <div id="wrapper">
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" />

    yup it has to be inside the head tag

    Ah, I was experimenting and must of left that there. But, I have put it at the top of the header, still nothing.

    Below, is my full header.php including the <link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”/favicon.ico” />:

    ‘<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN” “”>
    <html xmlns=”” <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”/favicon.ico” />
    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”<?php bloginfo(‘html_type’); ?>; charset=<?php bloginfo(‘charset’); ?>” />

    <title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> <?php if ( is_single() ) { ?> » Blog Archive <?php } ?> <?php wp_title(); ?></title>

    <meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress <?php bloginfo(‘version’); ?>” /> <!– leave this for stats –>

    <link rel=”stylesheet” href=”<?php bloginfo(‘stylesheet_url’); ?>” type=”text/css” media=”screen” />
    <link rel=”alternate” type=”application/rss+xml” title=”<?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> RSS Feed” href=”<?php bloginfo(‘rss2_url’); ?>” />
    <link rel=”pingback” href=”<?php bloginfo(‘pingback_url’); ?>” />

    <?php wp_head(); ?>

    <div id=”header”>

    <div id=”navbar”>

    <div class=”menu”>

      <?php wp_list_pages(‘title_li=0&depth=1&sort_order=desc’); ?>
      <li<?php if(is_home()) {; ?> class=”current_page_item”<?php } ?>>/”>Home

    <h1>/”><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?></h1>

    <div id=”description”><?php bloginfo(‘description’); ?></div>

    <div id=”wrapper”>’

    I’m going to take a chance at making myself sound like an idiot by asking the VERY obvious. Here goes..

    Could the favicon.ico be located in the forum folder only? Thus making the favicon location:

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="" />

    and not:

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" />

    Ok, I have now corrected that, thanks. One problem left, however. For me, the favicon shows in Firefox for a second, then just disappears. In IE, it shows correctly. What could be wrong?

    Regards Jason

    try replacing your favicon code with this;

    <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
     <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

    but make sure you change it to the correct file path.
    i would actually place the favicon.ico in your root folder, if you havent already. thats where it naturally looks for it anyways.

    I uploaded it to the root of my server and it worked. All that for something so simple.

    Thanks a lot for your help, much appreciated.

    Regards Jason
