  • Clear your browser cache and if you have a ‘favorite’ assigned in the browser to this domain, remove that first.

I dont see any favicon in the browser bar. It’s probably still in your cache memory. You could check it out with another browser.

Thanks for both getting back to me so soon. I cleared the cache again in Firefox and it disappeared, but for some reason it is still appearing in google chrome. The reason I wanted to remove the favico ico, was to see if it reduced the loading time of my page, I use a tool called GTmetrix to check the page speed of my web site and it says that favico ico has no future expiry date, so I thought it still existed when I look at Yslow grade.

Gmetrix, to me, does not issue a clear report (and clearly is ‘Y’ based). Use Google Page Speed Insights and review the Critical path, which shows your index.php waiting to load as it waits for your minify plugin (which completely defeats the purpose of it) A favico file is tiny, the fact that YSlow notes this as an issue is rather lame to me.

I had a feeling that Gmetrix is giving a false reading, I wonder if it is used to make W3 super cache look good. When I have used and use minify, it half’s the loading time of my web site and it also appears to load that much quicker using the plug on. I have found that with popups, I can only get them working by removing minify, but it doubles the speed of my web site.
