# Fatal Installation Error

 * I tried to activate the plugin but got the message:
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/objectiv/public_html/–/
   wp-content/plugins/stripe-payments/accept-stripe-payments.php on line 36
 * Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

 * PHP version should be 5.3+ minimum and if it’s not, the error you posted in your
   first post is displayed. But if you’re really sure your PHP version is 7.0.27,
   this isn’t the case then.

 * Hi Alexander,
 * I called my host and they were pretty sure it was 7.0.27. I just changed the 
   number to 7.2 and then tried to reactive the plugin. This time it worked!
 * Really appreciate your assistance. I’ll let you know if any other issues come
   up.

 * No problem 🙂 I still didn’t get what was the reason this happened though. I’m
   testing on PHP 7.0.22 and can’t reproduce that… oh well 🙂
