Support » Plugin: W3 Total Cache » Fatal Error: /wp-includes/option.php on line 1117

  • I updated WordPress from the updates page, but instead of completing the upgrade I got a page with this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_cache_get() in /home/better4ufoods/public_html/wp-includes/option.php on line 1117

The front-end of the site is still showing the cached version of the page, but I cannot access the admin panel, if I try to visit mysitename.com/wp-admin/ I get the above error.

    What I have tried:
    * Manually re-uploading WordPress (except wp-content) via FTP
    * Deleted W3 Total Cache plugin & all related files in wp-content via FTP
    * removed the cache call in wp-config.php
    * Disabled all plugins (by changing plugin directory name)

but no matter what I’m still seeing the cached version of the site and not able to access that admin.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Hello @maikunari

Are you using object cache? If yes, would you please check if you have object-cache.php file inside wp-content folder? If not, you may need to reinstall.

Though you said you have did:

    * Deleted W3 Total Cache plugin & all related files in wp-content via FTP
    * removed the cache call in wp-config.php

So it’s confusing. What happens if you rename index.php to something else?

    Have a good day!

    Cheers
    Ash

Thanks for the reply Ash. I renamed index.php and also uploaded an index.html and tried to navigate to it but couldn’t.

I’m starting to think the problem is with the webhost who may have some cacheing turned on as well. I’ll update this topic when I find out just in case.

It was just a problem with my webhost!

Are you able to access your site via FTP?

thank for reply Mr. Maikunari sir,

Yes sir, i can access Via FTP.

please share full process of after login via FTP.

    Thanks

Once you’re logged into FTP go to /wp-content/plugins/

Find the folder w3-total-cache and delete it.

Then in the /wp-content/ folder find and delete these files:

    w3-total-cache-config.php
    db.php
    advanced-cache.php

Once that’s complete you should be able to access your Dashboard as normal.
Then you should be able to simply re-install the plugin.

    Thanks sir,
i had done accordingly but now other issue with woocommerce plugin. what should i do and if any other plugin also create same problem then what is the next step.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_setting() in /home/tractsea/public_html/direlcopackersandmovers.com/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/admin/class-wc-admin-menus.php on line 98

Hmm, that’s odd. Are you able to access the dashboard yet?

It sometimes helps to turn off all plugins, this can be done by renaming the plugins folder to something else, for example: hold.plugins This should allow you to access the dashboard.

Would you mind sharing the URL of your site?

Edit: I found the URL from your code above, the front end of the site is working normally it seems. Please let me know if you still need help with the plugins.

    Thanks sir,

After disable means woocommerce plugin folder name changed. I have access dashboard and my website is running fine now.

    Thanks again for support.

Should I have to upload w3 total chache and woocommerce.
Woocommerce plugin I think no need as we are service provider related to transportation services. What you think about it!

Great, I’m glad your site is back up!

If you don’t need woocommerce to sell your products or services then it’s best to deactivate it.

Cacheing is a good idea though, so it would make sense to use a chacheing plugin. W3 Total Cache can be complicated to configure, you might want to try WP Super Cache it is much simpler to set up.

Best of luck! Also, be sure to set this question to resolved.
