• I’m pretty new to wordpress.org and today I was upgrading to wordpress 3.5 and it failed. The site still seems to be live, but when I try and access the dashboard I get the following error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_home_path() in /var/sites/a/ayshcreament.co.uk/public_html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 128

How do I fix this? It’s a business site, so I need it running.

(I back up using a plugin)

    My site:

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Twelve theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

How can I downgrade back? As there seems to be lots of bugs with 3.5 I’d rather wait until they’re sorted

Did you try any of the step I suggested above?

I tried 3 of them and it hasn’t fixed it, so I still want to downgrade please

Looking to downgrade also. Too many bugs! Shouldn’t have released yet.

I am downgrading also. Too many issues.

@ayshcreament: Did you make a pre-upgrade database backup?

@gingalley: Stop butting into other people topics with unhelpful comments. It is impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread unless you have something positive to contribute.

@hbgi: As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. Your problem – despite any similarity in symptoms – is likely to be completely different.

    Hey Esmi,

Yes, the plugin did and I just realised my host does as well. However when I deleted the wp files and replaced with the back up (done 3am- before I upgraded) it’s still not working

You will need to restore your pre-upgrade database backup and upload a copy of WordPress 3.4.2 – with the exception of the wp-content folder. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thank you Esmi 🙂

No problem. Good luck with the rollback but please do seriously think about upgrading to WordPress 3.5 asap. It really is the first and most important step in keeping your site safe from hackers.
