I accidentally deleted part of the coding for my site and when i tried to past it back in, it brought me to a Fatal Error page!

Now it says “error establishing a database connection” every time I go into my site and “Fatal error: Class ‘From_The_Blog’ not found in /home/megpittam/meganpittam.com/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 324” – when I try to log in to my site.

Is there anyway I can salvage my site without starting all over?

  • Obvious answer would be to put the part of the code you deleted back using a backup or so.

The class From_The_Blog doesn’t ring a bell here, so that might be custom coding. Try turning off all your plugins ( i.e. move plugins directory to different name ), maybe that helps.

Otherwise you have to identify which function uses the class .

How do you use a backup, without being able to login to my site? Sorry I don’t know that much about coding.

Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of your current version of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Ok I ended up reinstalling WordPress! Thank you both for your help:)
