Support » Fixing WordPress » Fatal Error trying to activate Jetpack

  • I had a server error trying to upgrade to the latest Jetpack which subsequently left me unable to access my dashboard due to a fatal error.

To try and clear the decks and try again I deleted the Jetpack folder on my FTP File Manager, went back into my dashboard and turned off all my plugins to make sure there would be no other odd interactions causing issues, and then uploaded the new Jetpack plugin folder back into my wp-content\plugins folder.

Jetpack now appears in my list of installed plugins on the dashboard but when I try to activate it I get the following error:

“Fatal error: Cannot redeclare menu_alter() (previously declared in D:\hosting\10116621\html\wp-content\plugins\jetpack\modules\contact-form\grunion-contact-form.php:754) in D:\hosting\10116621\html\wp-content\plugins\jetpack\modules\contact-form\admin.php on line 16”

Does anyone have any ideas of what I might have missed and how I can fix the issue?
