Fatal Error/Site Crash

    I am having this issue when I try to clone my site to our staging site at staging.teachthought.com.

    You can find the error below–thank you for any help you can provide.

    Hi terryheick,

    Thanks for reaching out.

    Do I understand correctly that your main site works well and “only” your staging site breaks after cloning?

    An issue like the one above comes up from time to time when we change a file. I have not been able to reproduce it, though. Often, a simple reload or disabling and re-enabling the plugins by renaming the plugin folder helps. Please give it a try and let me know.

    Did you have a chance to test my suggestion and Advanced Ads works again on your staging site?

    Could you also share how you create the staging site? I would like to give it a try and reproduce the issue.

    Thanks for following up. I have not had a chance to test the fix you suggested. I use ManageWP to backup and clone sites–which has worked perfectly in the two years I’ve used it. The problem is that I have to disable the Advanced Ads plugin before cloning the site or it crashes the staging site. Disabling the plugin to make a new backup and clone the site takes 20-40 minutes–during which no ads are appearing on the site. It probably isn’t much dollar-wise, but I was hoping to find another way to do this because even if I did it this way, the new site would crash (I’m assuming) as soon as I activated the plugin. I could ask my developer to try renaming the folder but just haven’t gotten around to doing so because then he’s going to ask me a dozen questions. : ) I run TeachThought by myself and am the father of 4 children and so time is extremely scarce. That said, I need a functioning development site so here I am trying to figure it all out.
