Support » Plugin: Polylang » UPDATED: Fatal Error received – due to conflict with a 404 page plugin

  • UPDATE: I want to thank Chouby for helping me out with the error situation.
    I installed the plugin and added the languages. But when I wanted to see it in action, it caused my site to crash. I received a fatal error message and wasn’t able to get to my dashboard. Even though the plugin is mentioned on my theme’s (UNOS PUBLISHER) webpage, it didn’t work for me. I uninstalled it!

    Hello,

    What message did you get with the fatal error?

    It was this one:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function pll_get_post() in /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/404page/inc/class-404page.php:900 Stack trace: #0 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/404page/inc/class-404page.php(627): PP_404Page->get_page_id() #1 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(288): PP_404Page->exclude_404page(Object(WP_Query)) #2 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(312): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array) #3 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php(544): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #4 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-query.php(1757): do_action_ref_array(‘pre_get_posts’, Array) #5 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-query.php(3413): WP_Query->get_posts() #6 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp.php(614): WP_Query->query(Array) #7 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp.php(731): WP->query_posts() #8 /home4/foodsag2/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php(1255): WP->main(”) #9 /home4 in

    As you can see the error message is related to

    plugins/404page

    That means, the plugin 404page causes this error, not Polylang.
    You can disable this plugin and try to run Polylang without it.

    Hello,

    To be more precise, it seems to be related to a compatibility with Polylang inside the plugin 404page, which would explain why the fatal error occurs only when polylang is active. I suggest that you contact the support of the 404page plugin.

    Thank you very much for the information. I will deactivate 404 plugin and see if Polylang works then. Thanks again!
