The new update crashes when activated.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in ../wp-content/plugins/wc-vendors/classes/admin/class-admin-reports.php on line 535

Is this something we can fix quickly? Or should I stay with 1.8.1?

Your webhosting company is running a version of PHP older than 5.4. Upgrade PHP to 5.4. Eventually, if you don’t a lot of plugins wont work because WordPress will soon require PHP 5.4, too. 🙂

Preferably, upgrade PHP to something much newer than 5.4 still, but 5.4 is the minimum you need.
