Support » Plugin: Thumbnail Cleaner » Fatal error – Memory exceeded when trying to create backup

  • I get the following error when trying to create a backup of the /wp-content/uploads/ directory to be able to restore the original, uploaded files in case something goes wrong:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12136017 bytes) in /home/langua36/public_html/ on line 81

On the site, I’m using the “iRibbon Pro 2” theme by Cyberchimps, hosted on SiteGround-dot-com, using WordPress 4.3.1

Also, your instructions say, “Make sure the folder /cache/ in the plugin’s directory is writable (CHMOD 755).” However, there is no cache folder in the plugin’s directory.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to post the issue here.

It looks like your /uploads/ directory is too big for Thumbnail Cleaner to backup. When there are a lot of files in the /uploads/ directory and your PHP settings have defined a relatively low max_memory_size value, the backup will fail. I’ll try to find a solution for that.

Regarding the misleading instructions: I don’t find that part anywhere. Maybe I’ve removed or changed it already (and not yet uploaded) and forgot about it, lol.

just increase ur memory limit from php.ini file or if u can access WHM/cpanel , u can do it from there too…
