Support » Fixing WordPress » Fatal error: Maximum execution time exceeded when accessing /wp-admin/

  • Hi,

I started to experience problems with my WordPress installation yesterday. I am not able to access any pages on the wp-admin directory anymore. The front-end of the blog and all the other pages like wp-login.php for example, function normally

These are the two errors i am getting. Once one, then the another one again:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 15 seconds exceeded in /home/mobiiliv/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 95 // Sometimes its on the line 252, 354 etc. Seems to be very random. Sometimes its even a blank line, that is

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 15 seconds exceeded in /home/mobiiliv/public_html/wp-admin/includes/functions.php on line 3620 // usually around that line

The things i have tried so far with no success:

*switched to the default theme through phpmyadmin
    * added the set_time_limit(0); to the files that are causing the errors. Then the wp-admin just loads forever.
    *disabled all plugins through phpmyadmin
*deleted all posts with a sql command in phpmyadmin
    *upgraded to wordpress 3.0 beta

Can anyone point me to a right direction, what to try next to find out, what could be causing the this error?

Any help will be much appreciated
