 * Hello
 * I´ve made a new Homepage on a seperate Domain. A few days before we transport
   this site to the right Domain. The url´s in the datebase were updated – i thought
   everything works well….
    Now i try to update wordpress from 4.0.1 to 4.1. It
   doesn´t work. This is the message i see…
 * **Warning: require(/var/www/vhosts/anylight.de/httpdocs/wp-content/upgrade/version-
   current.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory
   in /var/www/vhosts/anylight.de/httpdocs/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php on
   line 785**
 * Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/var/www/
   vhosts/anylight.de/httpdocs/wp-content/upgrade/version-current.php’ (include_path
   =’.:’) in /var/www/vhosts/anylight.de/httpdocs/wp-admin/includes/update-core.
   php on line 785
 * Also the other plugins cause problems. I update them – the message is that everything
   is ok and the plugins are updated – but there is still the little red number
   that shows that an update is neccessary …
 * Has anyone an Idea ?

 * If you are able to and willing I would suggest using S/FTP to update.
 * [Manually updating](https://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update)
   can be a better method in that it ensures you won’t have any excess files.

 * One question did you do the URL change already? Or are you going to be doing
   a URL change? When updating the database tables were just the home/site name
   updated? This can cause issues if a search and replace was done incorrectly.
   Also make sure the files are there and have correct ownership’s/permissions.
 * You can do a manual update can make sure you get all your core files back ans
   has bailed me out of some issues.
 * Last thing make sure your .htaccess file is up to date with the correct rewrites.
 * Hope this helps, if not let me know

 * Hi – I made an manual wordpress update – There were some Problems with the permission–
   but after contact with my Hostservice and some changes it works 🙂
 * But there is still the Problem with the plugins … I make an update – the Feedback
   is ok – but it is the same old version like before … I´ll find out that the new
   Version – and also new plugins were placed in the wp-content from my old url …
   the url i used to create the site … i search within the database ( probably something
   were not changed into the new url ) but i didn´t find the old url in it and also
   not the old databasename …
 * Someone knows a file i can change for the right linking ?
