Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » Fatal Error from Gutenberg Plugin, Can’t log in to fix it

  • After installing the Gutenberg plugin, I can’t get into the admin part of the site to disable it. I have no coding knowledge so I do not know what I have to do to fix this problem. Every time I try to log in or open it, I get this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function gutenberg_use_widgets_block_editor() in /homepages/20/d122090510/htdocs/phe2017/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/gutenberg.php on line 47

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • The Gutenberg plugin has experimental and beta features. If you want to use Block Editor, this is part of WordPress, without needing the Gutenberg plugin.

The site recovery system should allow you access to your wp-admin area to deactivate the plugin. If for some reason it does not, do you have FTP access to your server, or access to the files on your web host through your hosting provider? If so, find the plugins folder of your WordPress install and remove the gutenberg plugin folder (delete or move it another place outside of Plugins folder). This will deactivate the Gutenberg plugin, but the block editor will still be enabled.

Howdy @jpoyo. As @bonkerz mentioned above you should have an email (on the email address you used to install WordPress). The quick solution is the one mentioned above to simply remove (via FTP or the administration panel of your host) the Gutenberg folder from [wodpress_directory]/wp-content/plugins.

I am trying to reproduce this problem but am unable to. What version of WordPress were you using? Did you install Gutenberg from the plugin directory or uploaded a zip file?
