Fatal error during manual upgrade

    Hi

    I was trying to upgrade from version 2.07. Bought the new files over. Have checked that they’ve copied over correctly and checked deleting etc. However I get the following message:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function add_filter() in /home/fhlinux181/w/williamboot.net/user/htdocs/wp-includes/default-filters.php on line 17

    Checked the forum for similar things but either I’ve checked the files have been deleted/installed or the fixes don’t appear to be relevant.

    Only thing I’m not sure about (it’s been a long day) is whether some stuff got deleted from my old wp-content folder. Would this have an impact? If so, anyway of restoring the former wp-content folder (doesn’t seem to be included in any backup I’ve done..)

    Can anyone help?

    Do you have a pre-upgrade database backup? You really should have carried out a series of smaller upgrades. Huge upgrades in a single step rarely work.
