Support » Fixing WordPress » Fatal error: Class ‘CustomAdminSubPage’

  • I’m new admin for the site shown below. I contacted domain host. Appears they don’t have or use cPanel. On login, found WP version to be out of date and along with roughly 4 or 5 other plugins.

I foolishly tried to update without creating a local backup of the site. Afterwards, I tried to login and this is the error I get. The error occurs on simple browsing of the site as well. To make matters worse, the web host reveals to me after this, that they have not been maintaining any backups. (yay me!)

“Fatal error: Class ‘CustomAdminSubPage’ not found in /home/****/public_html/wp-content/themes/****/functions/admin_options/AdminPageFactory.php on line 11”

My plan, is to get the site back online and move to a host that provides backups and real service.

To get this online again, I hope to get them to setup an FTP connection for me, and then I can get the theme reinstalled, and then move to my account with other domains to GoDaddy.

I would post this topic in a theme, but I don’t even know what the current theme is set to.

Can anyone validate my thought process or otherwise point me in the correct direction if my logic is flawed?

    Thank you!

You’ll need to access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate, so you can access your site again.

The name of the theme would be whatever you’ve censored out at /public_html/wp-content/themes/****/ 😉

@macmanx Thank you for your reply. I apologize for my delay. I FINALLY got in touch with the current host, and was able to gain FTP access.

So, I hope this isn’t a stupid question. [Don’t you hate it when people start like that.]
Anyway, it appears there is an empty folder with a child theme with the same name.

I renamed the active theme per your suggestion. Unfortunately, the site didn’t revert to the default theme. When the page loads, it is simply a blank page. I’m glad that I have been able to change what viewers see, but I still need a nudge in the right direction.

Any additional thoughts come to mind?

Download, expand, and upload the Twenty Ninteteen theme from https://wordpress.org/themes/twentynineteen/ to wp-content/themes/ so you’ll have /wp-content/themes/twentynineteen/

    Any change?
