    Strangely enough I’m getting this fatal error upon activating this plugin:

    Fatal error: Class ‘BP_XProfile_Field_Type’ not found in [redacted]/wp-content/plugins/bp-xprofile-location/inc/class-pp-field-type-location.php on line 8.

    All plugins and wordpress up to date, and Google Maps API key added as per instructions.

    Solving my own problem here, but leaving the thread as it might help someone else.

    The plugin requires Extended Profiles to be enabled in BuddyPress. Once activated, the plugin works fine.

    Another case of user error.
