# Fatal error, cannot continue

 * I am getting the following error in the stylesheet:
 * Fatal error, cannot continue: null is not an object (evaluating ‘this._expr(e).
   text’)
 * Any ideas?

 * This error is shown when I go into the Theme Editor and edit style.css.
 * The message is shown at the bottom of the document just above the ‘Update File’
   option. The only way to save the document is to choose the checkbox that says:“
   Update anyway, even though it might break your site?”

 * [@johnwm](https://wordpress.org/support/users/johnwm/) That sounds like an error
   in the Theme Editor rather than the theme files. You could try using another 
   browser, in case it’s a compatibility issue in the Theme Editor JavaScript code
   with the browser you’re using.
 * You can also try deactivating the plugins on your site and then visiting the 
   Theme Editor again, in case the JavaScript error is caused by a conflict with
   a plugin.
