• With 3.5.5 Version

After to update to this version when i try to admin my wordpress i got

“Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_mail() in /…../…./wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/inc/backup.php” in a white page.

Refresh the page and then i can get the login screen.

I hope to resolve this problem.

  • Me too! I hope the developer responds!

Version 3.5.5 with WordPress 3.6 had been working fine for me til today. Then when I called the admin page, I got the same fatal error, on line 159. Like you, when I refreshed, the login screen came up.

Like I said, it had been working fine though – I had no errors and was still receiving backups to my email up through yesterday.

With version 3.6, I got the same fatal error, but in /../../wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/inc/filecheck.php

I’m agree with Zilla, wait for a while. And then, refresh – and all is well.

But, I think there something wrong with this plugin.
I hope this topic can figure out something to the developer.

Over all this plugin is help me. 2thumbsUp 😀

I want to add another report of this issue.

Mostly been noticing the ‘backup.php’ error…BUT, now just as I write this, I’m checking again (clicked on ‘Security’ in wp’s left side menu in admin) and I got the backup.php error, then refreshed browser, then I got the filecheck.php error, then tried refresh again, finally kicked me to Better WP Security’s Dashboard tab. I then checked my email to confirm…I didn’t get any database backup emailed to me.

    Specific errors:
(masking out my specific directories with —)

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_mail() in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/---/---/wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/inc/backup.php on line 159

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_mail() in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/---/---/wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/inc/filecheck.php on line 336

So eventually I do get into the plugin settings at least which is better than being locked out of it!

I can manually click the ‘Create Database Backup’ button/link in the ‘Backup’ tab in Better WP Security and get a database backup emailed to me right then. Just the automatic backups don’t get emailed.

    My setup:
    – WordPress 3.5
    – Backup Interval: 12 Hours
    – Send Backups by Email: (checked on)
    – running locally on Mac OSX 10.5.8 using DesktopServer 3.5.8
(older setups I know, it just where I’m at at the moment!)

Also to add, the backup emails were working in the past recently, could have been with the latest updated version it hasn’t? Not 100% positive when, but that seems like the first place to check.

I do want to give kudos to the plugin, its incredible what’s all built in, love just the right mix of security features along with the auto-backup feature (plus I noticed the addition of hourly option vs. just once a day as it was before upgrading it…yay!). Hope it can get any new bugs ironed out soon, its a gem of a plugin.

Today I’m experiencing a new issue. When I go to edit one of my pages I get: Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_mail() in /home/content…..wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/inc/backup.php on line 159.

I am totally sick of this plug in now. It appears to be always something and they offer 0 help. I would advise users to try a different security software. I turned off all of the tweaks and the error still persist. I’m afraid it will do this to additional pages going forward until all of my pages can’t be edited. Anyone know how to help?
