Fatal Error… call to undefined function–all themes

  • I recently upgraded and thought this would be a good time to change my theme to something “newer and cleaner.” I have uploaded several themes (Erudite and Lightword among them). None of these work, they all return they message Fatal Error: Call to undefined fuction exc_attr() in home/walter/public_html/wp-content/themes/the-erudite/header.php on line 32.

I’ve noticed there seems to be multiple installations of WordPress in different directories… could this be the problem? How would I determine what to remove?

    Thanks for any help…

  • Without being able to see everything I would recommend trying to disable all plugins first.

If you can log into wp-admin then you can do this by renaming the plugin folder in FTP or deleting it.

Thanks… tried that, makes no difference. What I find odd is that I get a very similar message with every new theme I try. Fortunately I’m able to switch back to the old theme and not have the problem.

I would have to go with a fresh install of WP then since you said you got a few installations all over the place.

Better just to do a clean install since I really dont know what all you have and where.

Ok, but how do I get rid of all the current installations without losing all my posts and pages? There are several years of data involved here.
