I just used the upgrade link provided by Fantastico in my website’s Cpanel. I’ve upgraded that way before with no problem. But today, it broke my blog entirely.

I’m getting the following error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare is_tag() (previously declared in /home/little/public_html/blog/wp-includes/query.php:94) in /home/little/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/UltimateTagWarrior/ultimate-tag-warrior.php on line 106

Can anyone help me fix it, or tell me how to get back to my prior version?? Thanks so much.

  • Disable the UTW plugin – no need for it, since tagging is built-in for your new WP version.

(the error refers clearly to the plugin…)

You have to disable all plugins before doing a major version upgrade. Those one click install don’t do this and therefore cause many problems.

You’ll have to delete your ultimate tag warrior plugin folder in your wp-content/plugins folder. Then try again. If you can access your blog then you can import your old tags into wordpress’s builtin tagging system. You go to your Dashboard > Manage > Import > Ultimatye Tag Warrior.

I’ve found upgrading WP via Fantastico to be generally unsatisfying (read this as “it sucks”). It’s much easier to use the upgrade instructions posted here on the site.

    Thanks everyone! Got it fixed!
