 * I just updated your plugin and now it won’t let me activate it because of a “
   fatal error”
 * This is the error I am getting when I try to activate the plugin.
 * “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

 * I’ve downloaded and tested the plugin that is posted on the site and it works
   as expected.
Fatal error can cover many things, so may i ask how did you upgrade?
   Manually or through WordPress.
 * If manually, did you delete the old version as stated in the instructions?
    Some
files have been removed from the project and there presence will cause problems
   if they are still there.
 * If automatically, can I ask you to try to activate it manually as the main file
has changed and this could be the cause in this situation.
 * Regards
    DCoda

 * DCoda, I activated it through the wordpress interface. I can go ahead and delete
the files and re-install manually, but I don’t want to lose all of my quizzes
from before. Where are those quizzes stored and will I lose them by manually
   reinstalling?
 * Thanks for the quick reply as usual!

 * I’m not sure how the WordPress interface works, but we did change the name of
the main plugin file so If WordPress assumes its the same that could be the problem.

If this is the case, then just clicking activate on the plugins screen should
   work.
 * Your data safe, it is storred in the database, so unless you have customised
the plugin files you will not loose anything by deleting the plugin files.

 * I deleted all of the files in the plugin folder named “quizme” from the previous
version. Then I uploaded all of the folders in the new “quizme” folder in the
zip file that I downloaded for version 2.5.33.
 * It is still saying fatal error when I try to activate the plugin from the plugin
screen. What else could be causing this plugin to cause a fatal error?
 * I also tried deleting it again and re-installing it through the wordpress site
and that didn’t work either. I don’t know what else to try.

 * What operating system are you on, do you know if it’s case sensitive. This may
be the problem, and assuming this is the problem and working to find the offending
file that is in the wrong case.
 * You can find the old versions here
    [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quizme/download/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quizme/download/)
So you can continue to run while we look into the problem

 * I have tried it on a Mac and a PC and neither are working. If it is case sensitive,
I just followed the naming convention that you used to name your files, so I
am not sure how that could mess things up.
 * In the meantime I have installed the old version (2.5.28) and that is working
   just fine. Thanks.

 * HHHmmm, both windows and osx ( usually ) are case insensitive. So this cannot
be the cause. and yet the old versions work fine.
Can I ask what PHP version
you are using, maybe a function that is not PHP 5.2 compliant has been used.

 * I am running PHP version 5.2.17.

 * Since you are PHP 5.2 and the minimum we have available for us to test is 5.3
it seems probable that some functions that require 5.2 have been used.
    Well
look though all the new code to see if this is the case.

 * Our hosting running PHP 5.2. Is there a previous version of the plugin available
   for download?

 * Oh nevermind, found the tiny link to previous versions: [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quizme/download/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quizme/download/)

 * We are down grading all our development servers, and hopefully this be something
that can be easily fixed with 5.2 code only.
We do intend to go back to 5.2
   compliance.
