 * Since yesterday I’m getting a fatal error on my site: Namespace declaration statement
   has to be the very first statement or after any declare call in the script on
   line 3 in /springzaad.springweb.be/wp-content/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/src/WP.php.
   I have now disabled the plugin temporarily, but does anyone know what could be
   the problem? Thanks!

 * Hi [@lspringael](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lspringael/),
 * what happened on Saturday? Did you update the plugin? Install some other plugins?
 * The plugin worked just OK for weeks before Saturday?
 * I’ve looked at our plugin’s code and the namespace declaration is the very first
   statement in that mentioned file.
 * Could you please verify that on your server? View the file in question and see
   what is on line 3. It should be `namespace WPMailSMTP;`.
 * Maybe this was just a temporary issue when updating some plugins on your site?
 * Did you try to activate the plugin again to see if it was just a temporary issue?
 * Take care!

 * Hi Gregor
 * Thanks for your reply! The plugin worked fine for a few weeks and suddenly it
   gave this error (I don’t think it was due to an update or a new plugin). I tried
   to activate it again, but it gave the same error.
 * The code in the document says:
 * <?php
 * namespace WPMailSMTP;
 * /**
    * Class WP provides WordPress shortcuts.
 * Thanks!

 * Hi Linda,
 * Could you please try to re-install the plugin.
 * So, delete it from your plugins and then install it again.
 * Maybe some of the files are corrupted.
 * Let me know if that will resolve the issue for you.
 * Take care!

 * Hi [@lspringael](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lspringael/) – We haven’t
   heard from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket
   resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue
   the conversation.
