# Fatal Error

 * Hi Folks,
 * Our site doesn’t work and people can’t order anything. I’ve had a WordPress store
   error apparently since Thursday last week.
 * It says:
 * Fatal error: Cannot use object of type WP_Error as array in /home3/cultretr/public_html/
   accomics.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3511

 * I’m running WordPress 4.6 running quickstart theme. I’ve got everything updated
   and it doesn’t work.
 * My boss had someone else set-up this WordPress site years ago and our tech guy
   knows nothing about WordPress. I know how to HTML and mess around with the dashboard
   but that’s about it.
 * Can you tell me what’s wrong with it?

 * Hi Stephanie,
 * It sounds like you have a plugin (or theme option) which is trying to use the
   WP_Error class, but it using it incorrectly.
 * I would start by deactivating ALL plugins; and see if the error persists.
 * If you are unable to log into your admin panel to deactivate plugins; then you
   will need to use either FTP or your hosts cPanel software (via your browser) 
   to gain access to your file directories.
 * Once there, navigate to the `wp-content` directory. You will see a folder named`
   plugins`. Rename this folder TEMPORARILY to something like `plugins_temp`.
 * Now, go back and log into your admin panel. You should notice all plugins are
   gone… but you can now re-access your website.
 * Now, reactivate a few plugins… and make sure you are able to continue browsing
   your site with no errors. When you know you’re good… activate a few more plugins;
   and repeat.
 * Eventually you should find a plugin that is throwing the error. You will need
   to contact that plugin author for assistance.
 * Lastly, if NO plugins were are fault, the issue might be with your theme. Try
   switching to the default 2016 WordPress theme; and see if the issue persists.
   If it does not, then it is your theme.
 * Please let us know how you do.

 * Hi! Activated and deactivated the plug-ins–nothing happened. Changed the theme–
   that fixed it!!

 * Great! Glad you got it figured out.
 * If the theme developer is actively attempting to keep the theme current; I would
   suggest filing a support ticket with the theme vendor. I’m sure they would be
   appreciative.
 * On the other hand; if the theme is outdated (abondoned), you will probably receive
   no reply.
 * Either way… you know how to move forward 🙂
