• Hi – I have just started using WP and got this error message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/nshmwkbc/public_html/wp/wp-admin/includes/update

Tried to follow instructions on other posts, but having problems as I can’t get into the screens at all. Although I am not a total beginner, I am unfamiliar with WP. Can you help me please?

  • Your sites memory limit of around 41M is not enough, try increasing the memory limit to 128M or 256M. See if the following helps: http://dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/

Thanks so much, I got the host to increase it to 64 – not totally sure how I would do it on my own, so was easier to ask them 🙂 The guy said that I would not experience the same problem again, do you agree? How can I avoid this from happening ever again? Is there a widget? Should I be uninstalling things?

The blog was pretty clear and I am sure I will use it for other info. Thanks for your help
