Support » Plugin: Easy FancyBox » fancybox requires two clicks on iphone

hi – easy fancybox is working beautifully on laptop/desktop. however on iphone 4 (ios6, chrome or safari) the images that normally open on the desktop in one click require two taps to open the fancybox. after two clicks it works great, but i imagine most users will feel it’s broken if nothing happens on one click. can you help me figure out how to make the fancybox do all of its excellent work in one click?
    thank you very much,

Hi, I see you are using FancyBox for WordPress now. Did that resolve the issue of needing two taps on the iPhone?

hi, and thanks for replying. yes, i’m using fancybox for wordpress – but the issue of needing two clicks is still there.

on the first click, the thumbnail goes grey, and the microscope icon shows up. on the second click, the translucent grey overly shows up, with the image atop it. advancing to the next photo, and closing the image by tapping outside the lightbox both work great.

    any suggestions?
    thank you!

I really have no idea why that happens. I don’t have an iPhone to see the issue but I guess seeing it would not get me closer to finding the cause. No debugging tools on the iPhone I presume? No script errors reported?

Can I ask you to with the iPhone go to where the development version of my plugin is running and tell me if the issue remains the same there?

hi – on the sandbox site the images open in one click. (fyi, they do have a different issue of appearing way down off the screen so that one must scroll to see them.) so, i guess it’s specific to my site, or to this theme? i’ll keep looking into it. thanks.

Several routes you can take to find out:

You could temporarily switch off all other plugins and switch to the default Twenty Twelve theme and test again…

Or you could try the development version from (you’ll see it under Other Versions) on your site. If that does not solve the click issue, then it would mean it’s specific conflict with your theme or other plugins.

About the scrolling issue: it might be related to the auto-centering of FancyBox. In the dev version you can switch that behavior off… If you find out anything that fixes that issue, please let me know so I can put it in the FAQs 🙂
