Support » Plugin: Google Authenticator - WordPress Two Factor Authentication (2FA) » Fake name & Installs another plugin when you deactivate like a Spammer

  • Don’t install. This plugin requires you to create an account at another site and is very confusing. The plugin is not even named GOOGLE AUTHENTICATOR as stated in the title. This plugin is actually named “miniOrange 2 Factor Authentication”. miniOrange is using this fake-named plugin to try to get you to purchase a premium plugin.

When you deactivate the plugin, the plugin asks if you are deactivating because you have to create an account. If you answer Yes, then a popup appears that informs you of another plugin that really is only a GOOGLE AUTHENTICATOR.

When I clicked the link to learn more about the other plugin that really is only a GOOGLE AUTHENTICATOR, the new plugin automatically installed without asking me for permission and without providing details on the plugin. I had to google the plugin to find the new plugin that only has 100 installs and no reviews.

    I’m deleting both plugins.

    Hi @msjanoah,

We don’t use any fake plugin name. Also, we don’t force any user to upgrade to our premium version if the user finds features worth upgrading they move to premium. You can see that we have more than 20,000+ active users using the plugin.

miniOrange supports different types of authentications like Google authenticator, Qr Based Authentication, Push notification, Soft token, Security Question, Email Verification, OTP over SMS and many more.

Why do you need to register?
miniOrange Two-factor Plugin uses miniOrange APIs to communicate between your WP and miniOrange. To keep this communication secure, we ask you to register and assign you API keys specific to your account. This way your account and users can be only accessed by API keys assigned to you.
Also, you can use the same account on multiple applications and your users do not have to maintain multiple accounts or 2-factors.

And for the customer who don’t want to use miniOrange APIs, we have a different plugin to which you are referring to which focus only on Google Authenticator.

    Thank You.
