Publicize to Facebook and Twitter not working.
Earlier today I submitted a contact support request because after disconnecting Jetpack, I couldn’t reconnect.
After disabling all caching on my SiteGround host, Jetpack has connected OK.

I had been following the steps at https://jetpack.com/support/publicize/facebook/#reconnecting-facebook and had deleted the WordPress.com app in my Facebook account.

When I activate Publicize, it tells me that it has successfully reconnected to Facebook, but then displays the “[failed_publicize_action] Invalid Publicize ID” error.

It won’t let me delete the connection, so I’m stuck.
It won’t let me add my Twitter connection (which I had deleted because it stopped working).

I’m guessing that if I completely uninstalled Jetpack, and then reinstalled, it migh fix the problem, but I might lose all my stats.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks for your email.
The performance is a worry, but as soon as I disabled caching and flushed the cache, I was able to reconnect Jetpack to WordPress.

So the timeout error message was probably masking a cache-related problem.

This problem – [failed_publicize_action] Invalid Publicize ID
    looks unrelated.

In https://wordpress.org/support/topic/cannot-disconnect-jetpack-from-facebook you suggested deleting the jetpack_options row from wp_options.

    Should I try that?

I’ll re-enable the caching to help performance.

I’m afraid the problem is still the same. As I highlighted in my email, your XML-RPC file is quite slow, so you will continue to experience issues with all modules that communicate with WordPress.com, like Publicize.

You could try to reset each Publicize connection here:

However, to make sure things work on the long term, I’d recommend looking into the performance issues on your site.

    Jeremy, thanks.
My site is now performing OK again.
I deactivated and reactivated the SiteGround caching plugin, but it may have been coincidence that the performance picked up at that point.

Thank you for the pointer to https://wordpress.com/sharing
I used that route to Facebook and Twitter, so hopefully the publicize function will now be working again.
