# Failed WordPress installation

 * I tried to install WordPress on computer yesterday and failed because I get a“
   HTTP Error 404.0 – Not Found” message when I try to access [http://localhost/wordpress/wp-login.php](http://localhost/wordpress/wp-login.php).
   
   Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the program? How do I do that (I did the
   installation useing Windows Installer) Thanks.

 * Hi vnick567,
 * esmi is right – WordPress is not a Windows application, but something that needs
   to run on a webserver application, and be viewed from within your browser.
 * I suspect you don’t have a webserver application installed on your PC, such as
   Apache, WAMPServer or XAMPP. To test this, could you please enter [http://127.0.0.1/](http://127.0.0.1/)
   into your internet browser, and post back what you get? I suspect you may get
   a 404 error – if so, I think I will need to take you through installing a webserver(
   don’t worry – it is easy to do!).
