This is not only expected, but working exactly as intended. When you are logged into your site as an administrator, you’re in the excluded group, which is defined as a setting of user roles not to track, so that you (and anyone who works on your site) doesn’t get tracked as visitors, so that GA doesn’t you as a visitor, and thus overstate your tracking numbers. If you use a plugin that does output the tags when you’re logged in as an admin, they’re _doing_it_wrong().
You can test that the system is tracking, by using an incognito window, or by logging out of your site (or if you want you can remove yourself from the excluded roles, there’s a setting in the panel for this).
In the source HTML, there will be a note that says “Normally you will find the Google Analytics tracking code here, but the webmaster disabled your user group.” to indicate where the MI tracking code would normally be.
I am aware of this, however it didn’t work even in an incognito window or another browser. The general tag was there, however additional events were not tracked.
