Just getting the exact same issue. probably something to do with the Developers setup in Sumup. Am investigating further.
On the Sumup setup it says – For all Webshop plugins and direct integration, make sure your account is fully on-boarded before purchasing the plugin or starting the integration. Please share your client_id to activate the “Payments” scope at integration@sumup.com.
I’m guessing this is the culprit.
Hi @jackmclean, Hi @cgain,
This is correct, some restrictions are applied by default on SumUp account, please contact integration@sumup.com with your SumUp merchant ID, we will help you for the onboarding process and activate the permission for your account to accept online payments.
Many thanks,
I have now had mine approved, but it still fails. No logged errors just fails and suggests a different payment method. I’ll post if I can get some errors.
Had a prompt reply this morning from Sumup saying they had activated the Client for taking payments on the website. Just tested and now working OK.
Hi @jackmclean,
Could you please try with a minimum amount of £1.00.
@cgain Glad to read that!
Many thanks,
I’m having this issue. Did anyone sort it?
Hello @martyn5992.
Could you please email integration@sumup.com and we will sort out the issue for you.
Thank you
Hello,
I have the same problem.
I installed an online store for my client with your plugin.
I saved the ids and when we go to the payment, I get this error message:
FAILED TO GET CHECKOUT ID TO PROCESS PAYMENT
Can someone help me?
@smarszal
Please email activation_request@sumup.com
They will need to activate your payment scope on your account.
Best
Hello @julliansumup ,
Do I also have to send this email in order to activate payment scope for a test account?
Best,
Rodrigo
I installed the plugin today, created credentials, enabled test mode, tried to do a checkout with 1 euro and I get this error, too.
What shall I do?
I would like to enable online payments to the test credentials and the real ones.
Where do I have to send the email to do that? integration@sumup.com or activation_request@sumup.com ?
I have the samme question a theart8, please advise

@agoralive just contact them via email, the integration one. Basically they have to activate your SumUp account to process online payments
When we had this issue I did what was asked and emailed integration@sumup.com they did whatever it is they do on their end and it started working. However a few months later the checkout error has returned
FAILED TO GET CHECKOUT ID TO PROCESS PAYMENT
After contacting SumUp a number of times they say that the issue is fixed and the account is activated but the error is still there.
What can we do?
