    Hello!

I am trying out the new Embed feature of WordPress 4.4 in my Twenty Sixteen theme.

When I tried to Embed a post from my website, using following code, or directly dropping the post URL as suggested here, I get failure to embed error.

[embed> Post URL goes here </embed>

I couldn’t figure out why I get that error message. How could I rectify this error?

    Thank You

  • Out of curiosity, just enter some text ABOVE the embed line, anything (but more than a period ‘.’). Just write a short line, something like “here is a page I wrote earlier:” and paste your embed on the next line. Let me know how you go.

I think you know this, but what embed tags were you using? Square braces ‘[‘ ‘]’ or greater/less than signs ‘<‘ ‘>’?

I just thought I would add. I didn’t know about this new feature of 4.4, so I thought I would go and test it.

I have created a dummy page and backdated it a year (to take it from my front screen) and linked it to another post and it works as predicted.

The test page with embed link:
    http://dav3.net/2170/

    Which shows page:
    http://dav3.net/519/

All I have in the page editor is the url without embed ticks:
    http://dav3.net/screen-shot-2015-12-10-at-9-40-01-am/

Thank you very much. I figured out and now it works fine.
