  • Happy new year for you too. The error that you are seeing is part of a problem that started at 24 December 2015 with attacks to Linode [1] they have been victim of a significant DDoS attack during all Christmas and many websites that are being hosted in their servers has been experiencing connectivity issues like yours.

We implemented some changes in the plugin’s code to handle these errors, please install the development version of the plugin [2] and go to the “API Service” panel located in the plugin’ settings page, change the value of the “API Request and SSL” option to “Stop peer’s cert verification”, then change the value of the “API Request Timeout” option to something lower than five seconds. These changes should help address the issue, let me know if it works for you.

You can follow the news in the Linode’s status page [3].

Thanks I put the dev plugin in and it seemed to remove my error problem for uploading images.

Can you tell me if there will be a new release that will show up in the plugin updates that will then install over the dev version when you have all this worked out?

    (@ianx)

so i need to install dev version?

Yes ianx what I did was copy the API key then delete the plugin then reinstall with that link #3 he provided above. It seem to hold all my settings after I put the API back in

@zorro1965 thanks for the confirmation that the development version of the code fixes the issue for you; once we finish testing the new code we will release the new version and you will get a notification via WordPress that an update is available; you do not need to do anything different than what you normally do when you install an update, just click the button and WordPress will take care of the rest.

I’m getting a slightly different error

Sucuri: (1451906850) Send_log: Connection timed out after 20000 milliseconds. This generally happens when the API service fails to respond in time, you currently have configured the plugin to discard the network connection after 300 seconds. Wait a few minutes until the issue is resolved by itself, or change the timeout limit from the general settings page of the plugin, the option is named “API request timeout”.

Is it related to this issue? If not, I’ll create a different issue.

Also, what is the ETA on getting the dev version released as a regular update?

    Thanks!

@michaelapproved you are experiencing the same issue; some people have reported improvements after following some of my suggestions, below you will find some instructions that I encourage you to follow. As I understand the attacks to Linode’s servers has been mitigated but there may be some servers that are still in heavy load.

I do not have an ETA for the release of the stable version, we are still testing some changes that were included in the new code. I will do as much as I can to release it Thursday, 07 January.

If you installed the development version, go to the “API Service” panel located in the plugin’ settings page, change the value of the “API Request and SSL” option to “Stop peer’s cert verification”, then change the value of the “API Request Timeout” option to something lower than five seconds. These changes should help address the issue, let me know if it works for you.

@yorman it looks like I have found another error when working with widgets. For example you create a new widget and save.

It looks like having the problem also again with photo uploads and also plugin installs.

Are you guys aware the problems are still happening and working on this.

    Thanks…
