    I get failed orders fairly often, but get no indication as to why the orders are failing.

    On the order page, I only see this message:

    Could not process order. Order status changed from Pending payment to Failed.

    Is there some way to find out why the order has failed? I don’t see anything useful in the logs.

  • I’ve had to call PayPal (402-935-7733) when I see these and sometimes they can tell me, other times they don’t see anything. What has helped with more visibility was recommended by PayPal MTS (Merchant Technical Support), installing the Rest API Log plugin here:

    After installed, search the PayPal and you may discover more failed order attempts than are showing up on the WooCommerce Orders page.

    I’m not happy with this plugin and am looking for a better PayPal solution until this one is stable.

    Hi @essmeier,

    There are multiple reasons that could lead to orders failing. Before version 1.6.2, there may have been an increased amount of orders being erroneously set to the status Failed, but the latest update should have resolved most of these problems that were reported.
    A look at your log files can tell us more about these orders though, in case you still had logging enabled.

    We would appreciate it if you could share your logs either here in the forums or better privately with us from here so we can dig deeper into this for you:

    I solved my problem by switching to a third party plugin-

    PayPal for Woocommerce by Angelleye



    I switched to this same one too and would be interested to hear how it works for you. The only issue I’m having with Angelleye is that I occasionally get an order show as Cancelled when in fact, the PayPal payment actually went through. The notes section of my order will say that the payment timed out.

    It’s working well and has good support. I had a failed order recently and a full explanation for why it failed was in the notes column.

    That’s all I’ll say about the plugin as we’re hijacking the thread.
