Hi, I’m working on a site for a client and despite a message indicating her Facebook token is working, we’re still getting an error 190. I’ve had her try several times to remove the token and then get a new one but always the same result. I have cleared the site cache and FTS cache each time.

Had a similar persistent issue with Instagram feed, but finally got that one working with another plugin. Twitter is stable.

Any thoughts on what’s happening with the Facebook Feed?

Here’s the error: #190 – Error validating application. Invalid application ID.

Using current version of the plugin: 2.9.4

    Hi @dawnrae,

    1. The 190 error code typically suggests that the FB user trying to acquire a FB access token, does not have admin privileges to the FB Business Page (*please note, it must be a FB Business Page, it can not be a FB personal, group, event or community page). The 190 error can also be that the FB user is clicking the FB banner/button and logging in through a FB Business account instead of logging in through a personal FB account.
(to clarify: our Feed Them Social plugin will only display a FB Business Page, however, to gain the proper FB access token, you must login through your personal FB account and have admin privileges for the FB Business Page).

    2. Please double check that you have *admin privileges for that FB Business Page and that the other protocols have been met.
*One recent FB caveat, is that now FB requires that the FB Business Page owner (or admin privilege “grantee”) be “FB Friends” with whomever they are granting admin privileges to.

    3. Another recent FB development, if you have added your website domain to Facebook Business Suite, be sure that third party developers are set to allowed.

    4. When you go to Feed Them > Facebook Options and click the FB banner/button, make sure you are logging in through your personal FB account. Then, in the prompts, select ‘edit settings’, click the FB Page you need plus one more Page and continue through the prompts. Once you have been returned to WordPress, click the banner for your preferred listed FB Page and then click the ‘Save’ button that appears. You can then proceed to Feed Them > Settings to generate a new shortcode.

    5. If you have completed the above steps and are still having the issue, then it is possible that another plugin or theme may be interfering.

Try deactivating all other plugins besides the Feed Them Social plugins temporarily. Then test to see if it works. If this works, try reactivating them, one by one, to see which one is causing the issue.

If deactivating all plugins doesn’t help the issue try switching themes to one of the default WordPress themes then look at the page (this can be done under the Appearance tab of your install). It’s possible the theme is causing errors.

Let me know how it goes.`

    Thank you for the information.

My client is able to successfully obtain an access token, and it is shown as working.

Her page is a Facebook page and she created it so she has admin privileges. She is an author and set up the page as such, does that mean it’s a business page or not?

I have tried disabling plugins and a default theme and that does not resolve the issue. I have cleared the cache (for the site and plugin) and regenerated the shortcode.

    Hi @dawnrae,

If your client has created the FB Business Page, obtained the access token and created the shortcode, yes, it should work.
If you are doing any of the above for your client, you would need to have admin privileges for said page.

If you can send us the shortcode to test, please send to support@ slickremix.com
